April 2012	The manuscript "Vibrational manifestations of strong non-Condon effects in the H3O+•X3 (X=Ar, N2, CH4, H2O) complexes: A possible explanation for the intensity in the “association band” in the vibrational spectrum of water" is featured as cover article in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics. The manuscript "Vibrational Fano resonances in dipole-bound anions," a collaboration with the Tully group, is featured in the Research Highlights section of the Journal of Chemical Physics website. Kristin Breen accepts a position at Tiger Optics. Helen Gerardi receives an NRC fellowship and is commencing a post-doc at NRL. Michael Kamrath is commencing a post-doc in Thomas Rizzo's laboratory at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
March 2012	Etienne Garand accepts an assistant professor position at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Julia Smith and Conrad Wolke join the Johnson Group.
February 2012	The Johnson lab is featured on Yale News for its recent developments in cryogenic ion spectroscopy. The group goes on its annual winter retreat to assess our directions and set plans for the upcoming year.
January 2012	Mark Johnson was awarded the Humboldt Senior Research Award. Joe Fournier was awarded the NSF Graduate Fellowship.
November 2011	Dr. Josh Melko is visiting in from Dr. Al Viggiano's lab at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. Josh's visit marks the beginning of a collaboration with Dr. Viggiano's group to investigate water oxidation in photosystem II mimics.
October 2011	Florian Schinle spends four weeks away from Dr. Kappes' group in Karlsruhe, Germany to help us set up an IRMPD experiment on our ICR. Florian's efforts paid off and we recorded our first IRMPD spectrum of leucine-enkephalin!
October 2011	Dr. Michael Berman from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research spends six weeks of his sabbatical with the Johnson Lab to study CO₂ reduction mechanisms. With Dr. Berman we have been looking at a number of ways to study CO₂ reduction by electrospray of ionic liquids, electrochemical manipulation in an electrpsray source, and in gas-phase charge-transfer reactions.
October 2011	Dr. Chris Johnson joins the lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow from Prof. Robert Continetti's group. Chris is one of only ten recipients of the NSF American Competitiveness in Chemistry Postdoctoral Fellowship to study nucleation in atmospheric aerosol precursors.
August 2011	Mike Kamrath is awarded the 1^st place poster award at the recent Gordon Research Conference on Biological Molecules in the Gas Phase and in Solution in Andover, New Hampshire.
May 2011	Michael Van Stipdonk of Wichita State University visits the Johnson lab to investigate the structure of model protonated peptides that exhibit interesting dissoication patterns in the gas phase. Rachael Relph receives the Richard Wolfgang Prize, awarded annually by the Department of Chemistry to those students who have submitted outstanding doctoral theses.
April 2011	Professor Anne B. McCoy from The Ohio State Univeristy arrrives as a Visiting Professor for six weeks bringing much need spectroscopic insight to many of our unsolved puzzles. Formate and the water association band finally understood! Tim Guasco takes Postdoctoral position with Kimberly Prather at UC San Diego Joe Fournier receives the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship
March 2011	Mark Johnson accepts editorship of Annual Reviews in Physical Chemistry
January 2011	Group enjoys ski trip to Stratton, Vermont, with over 18 inches of fresh powder!
December 2010	ESI Ion Source installed by Bruker, first FT-ICR mass spectrum obtained Rachael Relph takes Post Doctoral position with the group, developing next generation cryogenic ICR instrument
August 2010	Mark Johnson is the program chair for PHYS division at National ACS meeting in Boston, MA Johnson Lab research is highlighted in a Royal Society of Chemistry (RCS) article talking about how physical chemistry is booming in the modern era.
