The Crabtree group contribution to the Yale solar collaboration is the design and synthesis of novel linkers for attaching photosensitizers to the TiO2 nanoparticle electrode. One has been particularly successful, Bill-2, and another, Bill-4 is highly promising. Both are robust, electrically conducting, and Bill-2 appears to be able to bend over to cooperate with a second molecule of Bill-2 on the surface.
